What the Witness Establishes
Shahrur states that the expression “those vested with authority,” with “those vested with” annexed to “authority,” occurs in two places in the Wise Revelation, both in Surat al-Nisa. He cites one of these occurrences in the verse commanding obedience to God, the Messenger, and those vested with authority.
