What Shahrur Says
Shahrur describes Noah as the first human prophet to receive revelation. He says that his people, before his mission, had denied messengers sent to them, understanding these messengers bearing warnings to be personified angels rather than human beings like themselves.
He describes his mission as a messenger as having monotheism for its backbone, and adds honoring one’s parents as a human value that God’s command first brought down to Noah.
